NORFOLK, Va. (November 19, 2014) – Suzanne Cole Nowers, CEO of Nexus Direct, was honored at the 2014 International Fundraising Congress (IFC) with the George Smith Outstanding New Speaker Award for her presentation at last year’s conference on how international non-profits can learn from U.S. political fundraising. The award is given to the speaker with the highest evaluations from delegates coupled with feedback from the IFC Advisory Panel. Nowers’s scores were the best received by a firstyear speaker in the 33 years of the conference.

The IFC is the world’s leading conference on fundraising. Established in 1981, it attracts more than 1,000 participants from over 60 countries and is renowned for outstanding learning and networking opportunities. George Smith was the first chief executive of the International Fundraising Congress and was distinguished for his relentless demand for excellence. In presenting the award, Jennie Thompson, past chair and current board member of the Resource Alliance said, Suzanne, you represent the very best of our sector, for you are a teacher who also keeps learning.

George Smith told young people entering the field, Reinvent everything. Every morning. Because that will pay dividends. That’s the spirit that we try to live every day at Nexus Direct, – said Nowers. “I’m deeply honored to receive this award and be recognized by my colleagues at the International Fundraising Congress.”
